~~     Susan J. Conway, 65, lost her battle with lung cancer at Hospice of the Valley, Goodyear, Arizona on Thursday, January 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born on September 14, 1949, in Racine to the late David and Lucille (Nee: Braund) Fergus. Sue graduated from Washington Park High in 1967 and a few years later, married Michael "Mike" Conway. Together they produced two wonderful children, Scott and Shelly. Although Mike and Sue divorced, their story, as many friends and family know, has been one filled with a unique friendship and bond unlike most circumstances. That benefit poured into the incredible life experiences they were able to share with their family, as a family, even though divorced. This was truly special. Contributing to Sue's passion for life, Scott married Michelle Sturman in 1994 and together, produced two wonderful granddaughters, Taylor (13) and Amanda (11). Sue often spoke of how privileged she was to represent the legacy of Michelle's mother Lee, who also lost her battle with cancer over 20 years ago. This was a job she held with honor, respect and compassion. She was always focused on giving a mother's love to Michelle's sister Rochelle Gazda and brother Rob Sturman. Sue's daughter Shelly gave her two other wonderful gifts, Sean (13) and Alyssa (9) Dahlke. After her diagnosis in 2013, she left Racine to be close to her son, daughter and grandchildren in Arizona. She made the difficult choice of leaving so many close friends and extended family, to be an active participant in her grandchildren experiencing life, which was her greatest joy. This joy is also what saddened her the most in her final days. Not being there for their special life moments; girlfriends, boyfriends, prom, graduation, marriages,and having children of their own. Even being there for that shoulder to cry on when life gets difficult. That was her specialty. No matter what was going on in her life, she was always there to help her friends and family first. That will be her Legacy. She put her own needs second. Always. In her 30+ years at InSinkErator, she was everyone's Mom. She was always there for someone. Her passion for all of her friends was clear and unmistakably felt by all who crossed her path. To her close friends, she was "Suzie Q." She also found love in the outdoors, camping, fireside chats, and all the Racine festivals. Of course there are her animals along her journey. She sure loved her cats! She will also be remembered for her love of music and dancing. Who can forget the "dance nights" with her grandkids and Michelle's father Bob Sturman after our Saturday and Sunday dinners. She will be remembered as an incredible giving, selfless and loving person, not just because she is my Mom, but because that is what every person she touched in her life has told me for all of my 46 years of life. Mom, we love you so much. We already miss you. Please watch over our family. Don't forget our many conversations where you said, "I will try and give you a sign that I am close and around you all." We will be watching for this, all the rest of our days. We love you Mom. Sue is further survived by her sisters Carol Quella, Bonnie Marsh, nieces, nephews and a very special Aunt Doris "Dory" Pacetti. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brothers Bob and Wayne Fergus. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. with Janice Navarro A.I.M. officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m.
