Ted Kirk
Vollmer
Oct 25, 1945 — Jun 9, 2018
Mt. Pleasant – Ted K. Vollmer, 72, passed away peacefully at home following a courageous fight against cancer. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on October 25, 1945, son of the late Floyd and Mabel (nee: Brinkman) Vollmer. Ted earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from SMU in Dallas, Texas in 1967. On May 2, 1970, he married Linda Anne Vanden at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, Illinois.
Ted worked throughout his life because it was his passion. Despite his disability, he started a successful family business over 30 years ago that continues to grow today. Ted enjoyed the outdoors, but not cloudy days. He especially enjoyed seeing the grandkids grow into the fine young adults they're becoming and was always there for a quick call or game of cards.
No matter the day or time, Ted lent an ear and gave sound advice and encouragement. His wisdom left a lasting impression on so many, and his legacy of compassionate mentoring enabled those who benefitted to pay it forward.
Ted will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda Vollmer of Mt. Pleasant; their children, Jamie Axelsen of Sturtevant, and Jason Vollmer of Fox Point; granddaughter Amalie Axelsen and grandson Jannik Axelsen both of Sturtevant; sister Phyllis (Robert) Hofmeister of Quincy, Illinois; sister-in-law Patricia ("Jake") Jacobson of Morris, Illinois; as well as other relatives, friends, and business associates around the world.
Memorial services for Ted will be held in the funeral home on Friday, June 22, 2018. Friends can visit with his family from 2:00pm to 4:45pm. Services will begin at 5:00pm with Chaplain Greg Price officiating. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, June 23rd at 10:00am. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or your favorite charity are preferred in lieu of flowers. Online guestbook at www.draeger-langendorf.com
