Thelma J. Wiggins, 62, Madison, formerly of Racine, completed her earthly Journey on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was born in Racine on November 1, 1959, the daughter of the late Nathaniel Smith and Barbara (nee: McGee) Freeman.

Thelma was a graduate of J.I. Case High School, Class of 1976. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant degree and had been employed by several nursing homes in the Racine and Brodhead area where she was able to execute her passion of being a caregiver while spreading love to those she cared for.  She happily retired in 2017. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.  Thelma enjoyed, bowling, playing darts, watching TV (especially Law and Order), sitting on the porch being nosey, and running track in her younger days. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Thelma leaves to cherish her precious memories, her two children, Neal Conley Sr., and Kristy (Edward) Turner, all of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Aaliyah Conley, and Neal Conley Jr.; great-grandson, Landon McCarty; sister, Annie Smith; brother, Danny Smith, and her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by stepdad, Louis C. Freeman, grandson, LaVontae Walton; brother, Larry Smith; sister, Evelyn Smith, Sonia Freeman, and Regina Martin.

Thelma I’m at a loss with your passing. Growing up I was at your house more than my own. Barb and Louis made me a part of the family because I was there so much, and you Theresa, Larry, Danny and Ann became my brothers and sisters. As the years passed we may not have been in touch as much but when we did talk or see each other it was like we just talked the day before. I’m going to miss you Thelma. Rest In Peace and I will see you, Larry, Theresa, Barb and Louis on the other side.

Testimonials

December 19, 2016

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and his staff. They go above and beyond what is required of a funeral home. He has always met my desires and goes beyond what I ask. He always makes it a little more special. He has blessed me and my family many times and comforted us when we are aching because of our loss. I am always confident that he will do his very best, and he always has.
Thank you Michael and staff. May you all have a Blessed Christmas season and New Year

Julie Weyhrauch
