Kenosha – Thomas Patrick Murphy, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at United Hospital System – Kenosha Campus.  He was born in Kenosha on October 21, 1947, son of the late Donald F. and Elizabeth "Betty" (nee: Wachs) Murphy.

Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Louise Tovo, on September 26, 1970, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Tom graduated from Bradford High School in 1965.  He then received his Associate's degree in Marketing from Gateway.  Tom was employed as an insurance agent/supervisor for Massachusetts Indemnity and Life Insurance Company.  He received many accolades and awards for his superior performance.  He later partnered to establish his own successful agency, Murphy Horn Associates.  Tom proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 until 1973.  In 1968 he served in Vietnam.  Tom was a member of the Somer's American Legion Post 552 and also a member of the Marine Corps League.  Tom was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.  He absolutely loved his sports, his Irish heritage, and was known as quite the jokester.  Above all, Tom loved his family deeply and will be dearly missed.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years, Carol Murphy of Kenosha; children, Michael (Mary Niland) Murphy of Milwaukee, Joseph (Alicia) Murphy of California, Andrew Murphy of California; grandchildren, Della Murphy and Rocco Murphy; brother, Donald C. (Norma) Murphy of Kenosha; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Racine, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 5pm until the time of the service.  Full military honors will take place following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to The Fisher House, an organization providing housing to military families close to their loved ones during hospitalization (fisherhouse.org).

The family would like to extend a heart-felt "Thank You" to the Kenosha Fire Department (Stations 5 and 6), Dr. Brian Piechowski, Chaplain Josh McDonald, Fr. Jerry, Lori Miller, RN, the staff at the United Hospital System – Kenosha Campus ER, and the staff at Draeger-Langendorf for the care given to Tom and his family during their time of need.
