Racine – Thomas Carleton Rath, age 63, passed peacefully in his home in Racine, Wisconsin on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Tom was born in Racine on March 4, 1950. He grew up in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for twenty years of his life then returning to live the remainder of his life in Racine, Wisconsin. He graduated from Union Grove High School in 1968.

Tommy was co-owner of the Wedgewood Fitness Center in the early 1980's and later a tradesman. He was passionate about physical fitness. Tom competed as a semi-professional body builder, holding the title of "Mr. Wisconsin" in 1990 at the Badger State Classic and winning awards between1987 thru 1990. He was a self- taught nutritionist, enjoyed cooking and healthy eating. Tommy restored and built street rods, loved fast cars, enjoyed watching golf and NASCAR auto racing.

Surviving him are brothers, Wilbert T. Rath II and Daniel E. Rath; sister, Kerri L. Hodge; nephews, Wilbert T. Rath, Michael D. Hodge, Joshua C. Rath; nieces, Melissa B. Duvall, Emily Rath Miller, Amanda Hodge Rust, Katelyn N. Rath, Chelsea D. Rath; great-nephews and nieces, uncles, aunts, friends, and lifetime friend, Greg Gottfredsen "Guppy".

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert T. Rath I ; mother, Rosemary Boghosian Smith; brother, Michael P. Rath.

Committal will be held in the Mound Cemetery Chapel (located at 1147 West Boulevard Racine, Wisconsin) on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2:30 pm. Interment will follow. A celebration of Tom's life will be held later that day. Location and time will be announced at the service.
