Timothy R. Carney left this earth all too soon and entered into eternal life.

Tim was the middle son of the late James and Gladys (Kirschbaum) Carney. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha where he attended St. Mark grade school and St. Joseph High School. Tim married Kathy McGinley, and together they were overjoyed with the arrivals of their three perfectly perfect babies: Tim, Bridget, and Colleen.

The Carney family cherished their time together and affectionately called themselves the Fab Five. As the Carney kids grew up, the years were filled with backyard pool parties, family dinners together every night at 4:45 pm, family vacations, and playing music (very loudly, just as Tim preferred). Tim treasured time with his children–especially watching an endless amount of fashion shows put on by his best girls and shooting baskets and watching college hoops with his favorite son. Tim was the life of the party and he loved to dance; he never left the dance floor at his children’s weddings. One of his greatest highlights was proudly toasting the three of them at their weddings and lovingly welcoming Shelby, Dalton, and Ben into the Carney family. The most joyful events in his life were the arrival of his grandchildren James, Maeve, and Jack.

Tim gained a few nicknames along the way. Some knew him as TCMOTG (Tim Carney Man on the Go) as his feet rarely touched the ground, and he was always looking for the next adventure. Tim loved planning trips, his favorite being the family’s trip to Ireland where they reveled in the Irish music, drank a few Guinness, and soaked up the culture and sights of the homeland. He kissed the Blarney Stone, but he didn’t need to–he always had the Gift of Gab.

Shortly after Tim retired, he and Kathy moved to downtown Kenosha, a place he was proud to call home. Tim walked the downtown streets and the lakefront area several times a day, often taking photos along the way. He especially enjoyed capturing sunrises.

An avid Packers fan, Tim loved taking his family to Packer games, and he was proud of his 10 season tickets. If you were ever driving around town and saw a car with the 10TIX Packers license plate, that was him.

He enjoyed participating in the Moose Club golf and pool leagues, socializing with the guys at the Silver Dollar Club gatherings, and fraternizing with the Tuesday night monthly dinner crew AKA Carney’s Menswear. Tim truly had the best friends a guy could ever hope for.

Tim is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Tim (Shelby), Bridget (Dalton) Hendzel, and Colleen (Ben) Gordon; his grandchildren, James and Jack Carney, and Maeve Hendzel; his brothers, Dave (Sue) and Jay; his in-laws, Joan McGinley, Pat (John) Dolnik, Mary (Mark) Albrecht. Tim was preceded in death by his parents James and Gladys and his father-in-law Robert McGinley.

Visitation will be held from 9–11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church (7117 14th Ave. in Kenosha) on Friday, January 23rd, 2026. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

What a gift it has been to love and know you as our husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. Oh and one more thing… Dad, you told us to “have a party.” And we will. You gave us memories and love that we will treasure forever. Love, KTBCSDBJMJ xo

I just cannot believe that it was time that another GREAT Irishman passed through the Pearly Gates, but letting Tim go to get beyond all that was compromising him was the right thing. He is now free of all the frustrations and able to keep a watchful eye on all of us from a much higher vantage point.

The photo and obituary are perfect and this is how I will be remembering my friend Tim! The smile is one of the keys to his life. Just imagine Tim looking this way, just younger, as Prom King in high school. And “Carney’s Menswear” never had a better model.

Thank you for being in ALL of lives Tim Carney! You made our lives just so much better and that will continue to live on in all of us who love you!

    God bless you, TC!

Our deepest condolences to Kathy and the entire family.
I have such fond memories of growing up with Tim, Dave, and Jay—golfing at Fox Lake, KYF basketball, and cookouts at each other’s houses. Those are memories I will always treasure.

Tim was a truly special person who had a way of making everyone feel welcome.

    Rest in peace, Tim.
    You will be deeply missed.

    Dear Kathy and family,

During the nine years I had the honour to work with Tim I have been working with a wondefull guy both as a person aswell as a salesman. His personality and honestay made him a great example for me and thaught me things I still cherish and use in my career. I stayed in touch and followed him after he retired and I left the company and is passing is a shock for me also. being at the same age it makes me realize that it is important to live everday to the fullest as he did together with you all. know he is in the heart of many people and therefore will not be forgotten.

Wish you lots of strenght from the Netherlands

From his friends at Powell Electronics

Tim Carney spent 18 years with Powell Electronics, and in that time, he brought with him the same things he offered the rest of the world around him: a jovial spirit, genuine kindness, and an easy friendship that made everyone better for knowing him.

Tim was a wise ,and when the moment called for it a savvy businessman, deeply respected by his peers and colleagues alike. He understood people, markets, and relationships in a way that can’t be taught. Nowhere was that more evident than in his mastery of the Caterpillar account, where his expertise, judgment, and persistence were directly responsible for a great deal of Powell’s success in the agricultural markets. His impact there will be felt for many years to come.

But Tim was never just about the business. He was about trust, laughter, and doing things the right way. He was someone you wanted in the room, steady, sharp, and always good-natured. He made work feel lighter and successes feel shared.

As much as we tried, many times, we could never lure Tim out of retirement to help launch our new Ireland office. That, too, was Tim: he had earned his time, his peace, and his next chapter, and he knew when it was time to enjoy it.

Tim will be deeply missed by his friends and extended family at Powell Electronics. We are grateful for the years we had with him, for the lessons he taught us, and for the friendships he left behind. Most of all, we are thankful to have known him, not just as a colleague, but as a friend.

Our thoughts are with Tim’s family, who shared him with us for so many years. His legacy lives on in the people he touched, the relationships he built, and the laughter he leaves behind.

With deep respect and admiration ,

Ernie Schilling Jr & Tim’s Friends at Powell
