Racine – Troy Cobb Jr.; age 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous struggle with COPD.

A lifetime resident, Troy was born in Racine on May 3, 1948 to the late Troy and Mozell (nee: Freeman) Cobb. A 1967 graduate of William Horlick High School, he went on to attend UW – LaCrosse and received a graduate degree from Upper Iowa University and a master's degree from UW-Platteville. A Wounded Warrior, Troy faithfully served our country with the United States Army as a medic in the Vietnam War from 1968 – 1970. He was employed as a truly dedicated counselor for the State of Wisconsin – Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Troy also was an instructor for UW – Platteville, Gateway & MATC.

On December 27, 2009, Troy was united in marriage with Nola Starling-Ratliff. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he proudly served as a Deacon. He was also a past president of the Wisconsin Rehabilitation Association, a member of the American Legion- Post 546, State Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns, life member of the NAACP, was honored as a distinguished alumni of Horlick High School, served on various drug awareness associations and mentored many. Troy was a diehard Wisconsin sports fan (Bucks, Badgers, Packers & Brewers); was an avid golfer and enjoyed following Tiger Woods; vacationing – especially in Scottsdale, AZ; had an extreme sweet-tooth who was a frequent customer at O& H Bakery; loved being a grandfather, family gatherings and spending time with all of his loved ones.

Surviving are his loving wife, Nola Starling-Cobb; son, Troy J. "TJ" (Kathy) Cobb; daughters, Kourtney (Aubrey) Gibson and Krystal (Alando) Tucker; grandchildren, Evan Koronkowski, Amir Tucker, Callaway Cobb, Asaiah Tucker and Kai Gibson; sisters and brothers, Betty Thomas, Wilma (Claude) Rogers, Paul Cobb, Beverly Hicks, Janet Mitchell and Gary (Elaine) Cobb;  sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda Cobb, Betty Jean Whisenton, Earlean (Harold) Nathan, Clara Williams, Larry Whisenton, Linda Clemons, Sanford McLaughlin, George Starling, Inetha (Sherman) Hawkins and Jerry (Georgia) Whisenton; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, including a very special cousin, Maggie Cobb, other relatives, and numerous long-time friends, including Robert "Shoppy" Pulliam and Edward "Hosae" Mitchell; and his beloved canine companions & best-friends, Rocky & Angel.

In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by his sisters & brothers, O.C. Cobb, Dorothy Cobb, Ronald Cobb and Vicki Cobb; Nola's parents, Claretha Whisenton and Henry Starling and brothers-in-law, Forrest Whisenton, Henry Starling, Michael Mitchell, Julian Thomas and Thomas Hicks.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (1123 Center Street) with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday evening, March 25 ^th , from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and in St. Paul Baptist Church on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. To recognize Troy for his loyal service in Vietnam, all are invited to the chapel of Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery ( 21731 Spring Street in Union Grove) on Tuesday, March 27 ^th , at 9:00 am for the interment service – including military honors. Memorials to the Disabled American Veterans – Wisconsin has been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the incredibly caring staff members of Ascension All Saints Hospital especially Dr. Steven Johnson and his nurse, Rebecca; and to Lakeshore Manor Rehabilitation for the compassionate care and support given in Troy's time of need. May God bless all of you!
