RACINE – Valery J. Roedema, 88, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Friday, September 22, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on April 5, 1929, the daughter of the late Alvin and Rosemarie (nee: Callanan) Troestler.  She graduated from Washington Park High School.

Valery retired from S.C. Johnson Wax in 1991.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where she participated in their craft club and volunteered her time doing church mailings.  Valery enjoyed crocheting, making greeting cards and socializing with the "Red Hat Ladies."  However her greatest joy was to be in the company of her family.

Valery is survived by her daughter, Lynn Dzurick; her son, Bryan (Katrina) Roedema both of Racine; her grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Bosanec of Racine, Kelly Roedema of West Allis, Tony Roedema of Racine; her great grandchildren, Samantha and Madison Bosanec; her brother, David Troestler of Texas; her dear best friend since high school, Nancy Stretti; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Clarence Roedema Jr.; her son-in-law, James Dzurick and her siblings, William Troestler, Alvin Troestler, Josephine Niesen, Petie Quam and Rosemary Hugasian.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring Street) on Friday, September 29, 2017 for a visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.  A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Memorials have been suggested to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Valery's family extends a heartfelt thank you to Home Harbor for all the wonderful friendships she enjoyed as well as Ridgewood Care Center for the loving and professional attention she received while under their care.
