Racine- Viola (nee: Clemmensen) Hemkes, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Christmas Day, December 25, 2011 at Lakeshore Manor.

Viola was born in Sturtevant, WI on June 18, 1920 to the late Soren and Anna (nee: Ostergaard) Clemmensen. She had been a member of the Racine Bible Church.

Surviving are her brother, Ernest Clemmensen of Conroe, TX; sister, Muriel (Jake) Friesema of Aurora, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, John "Johnny" Hemkes on April 1, 2006; brother, Norman (Freida) Clemmensen; and sister, Margaret (Fred) Anderson.

Funeral services for Viola's family will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 7 pm. Visitation will begin at 6 pm. Interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park.
