Mr. Virgil F. Gillmore, 78, (formerly of Mount Pleasant) passed away at United Hospital System in Kenosha on Friday, April 19, 2013.
He was born in Bristol on May 24, 1934, the son of late Byron and Jessie (nee: Younk) Gillmore. He met Joyce Pohorsky during a dance at Polish Hall and they were married on October 6, 1956.
Mr. Gillmore was employed by Gorton Machine Co., Drewco Corp. and Jensen’s Camping, retiring on May 1, 1995.
He enjoyed his memberships with the Jaycampers of Kenosha, the Handicapped Travel Club and the Racine Geological Society. He also loved spending the winter months with his wife in southern Texas.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his son, Jeff Gillmore of Brooklyn Center, MN., his daughter, Cindy (Tom) Behling of Martinsburg, WV; his granddaughter, Beth Behling of Brooklyn Park, MN; his sister, Anna Pierce of Westby, WI; sister in-law, Helen Gillmore; dear neighbors and caretakers Danny (Karen) Anderson of Somers; as well as a nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Gillmore.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 for a visitation from 11:30 am – 12:30 p.m. The celebration of Virgil’s life and funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Robert Nettles officiating. His interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.

I have so many fond memories of him while we camped together at the same campgroung for a while in the summers while all of us kids were growing up.
