Racine – Virgil C. Harp, affectionately known as Chuck, 80, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. He was born in Kenosha on January 14, 1935, son of the late Walter and Lillian (nee: Merrill) Harp.
Virgil proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Eileen Majeske in 1958 and they resided in Paris Township in Kenosha County. He was employed as a manufacturing engineer at Snap-On Tools in Kenosha.
Virgil leaves to cherish his memory his son, Mark (LeeAnn) Harp of Kenosha; daughter, Colleen Harp of Racine; ex-wife, Eileen Harp of Racine; grandchildren, Brittany (Tim) Cady, Travis (Katie) Harp; great-grandchildren, Ben, E.J., and Alayna Cady, Isaiah, Logan, Jameson, and Ellie Mae Harp; and brother, Clayton Harp of Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by his four brothers, Franklin, Raymond, Chester, and Hayden Harp.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26, 2015, 10:00am at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Ken Howe officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to your favorite humane society or animal shelter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Demers and the staffs at Wisconsin Veterans Home, Heartland Hospice, and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate and truly outstanding care that they gave to Virgil.
