Obituary

TOMAH, WI (FORMERLY OF RACINE) – Mrs. Virginia L. Carpenter, 91, passed away on February 21, 2015 at her son's home in Tomah where she had been living the past three years.

She was born in Kenosha on January 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Francis and Gertrude (nee: Gehring) Drummond.

Mrs. Carpenter was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.  After her children were raised and the nest was empty she went to work for Dremel Realty.  She also volunteered many years for All Saints.  Mrs. Carpenter enjoyed going to Mass at St. Paul the Apostle and attending plays at the Racine Theater Guild.

Her survivors include her children, Thomas (Sharon) Carpenter of Waukesha, Donald (Donna) Carpenter of Niceville, FL, Dennis (Christine) Carpenter of Beloit, David (Donna) Carpenter of Tomah; her 12 grandchildren; 27 grandchildren; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jackie Drummond and Ione Kiss of Racine and Richard (Josephine) Carpenter of Arizona; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Carpenter in 1991 as well as her brother and sister, William Drummond and Dolores Botsch.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring Street) on Thursday, February 26, 2015 for a visitation from 10-11 a.m.   Her life and funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.   Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.  Memorials in Mrs. Carpenter's name have been suggested to St. Paul the Apostle Church and the American Heart Association.
