Virginia Hawkins

Aug 26, 1938 – Oct 14, 2010

  Virginia M. Hawkins, 72, passed away in WFH-All Saints on Thursday, October 14, 2010. She was born in Racine on August 26, 1938 the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (nee: Russo) Vitacco.

  Mrs. Hawkins was a 1956 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School .On August 6, 1957; she was united in marriage to Gerald E. Hawkins. She had been employed by the Western Publishing Co. for over 36 years. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, working with granite rocks. Her greatest enjoyment came from being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
   Surviving are her children, Debra Herrera and John Hawkins Sr.; grandchildren, Tamra Nees, of Racine, John (Therese) Hawkins Jr., of West Allis, and Angel Hawkins of Racine; 5 great grandchildren, Joshua Jr, Jacob and Jordan Nees, Ryan Lockridge Jr. and Jasmin Jones; her brothers, John (Marie) Vitacco, of Racine, and Richard Vitacco, of Kenosha; her former husband, Gerald E. Hawkins, of Sturtevant, and her former sister-in-law, Diane Hawkins-Frye, of Racine. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
   A private funeral mass was celebrated in St. Edward Catholic Church on Friday, October 22nd with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Burial was held in Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32.
   The family would like to thank the entire ICU staff of WFH-All    Saints as well as Dr. Stephen Ryder and Dr. Iftekhar Bader for the care and comfort shown Virginia and her family while in their care. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family to be used for her great grandchildren’s education.

Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience.
