Virginia Louise Hayes, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026.

Virginia was born on July 11, 1930, in Osceola, Arkansas, to Homer and Virgie (née Garland) Vaughn.

On September 10, 1954, Virginia married Lyndell Carl Hayes in Osceola, Arkansas. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and devotion to those they loved. They later moved to Wisconsin where they made their home and raised their family.

Virginia was a hardworking and compassionate woman who spent 27 years serving others as a hospital aide at High Ridge in Racine County. She retired in 1987 after a long and dedicated career caring for those in need.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Virginia was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church on Warwick Way.

Virginia will also be fondly remembered as a wonderful cook. Her family especially looked forward to her famous chicken and dumplings, homemade cornbread, and banana pudding that her family always struggled to replicate —meals that brought everyone together and created many cherished memories around the table.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Janice (Jim) Brumback and Phyllis (Jack) Eisel; her grandchildren, Andrew (Stacy), Stephen, Meghan (Jon), Grace (Luis), Daniel, and Andrew; her special sister-in-law, Lenora Hayes; as well as many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndell; brothers Ellis, Howard Don, and Henry "Buddy"; and grandson David.

Virginia will be remembered for her caring nature, strong faith, delicious home-cooked meals, and the love she shared with her family throughout her long and meaningful life.

A visitation for Virginia will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church at 1400 Warwick Way in Mount Pleasant . Immediately following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park.
