It is with a profound sense of loss and deep appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Vita Andersen, age 77, who peacefully departed this world on December 1, 2024. Born on April 16, 1947, in the vibrant city of Copenhagen, Denmark, Vita graced our lives with her warmth, creativity, and culinary talents for over seven decades.

Vita was united in marriage to the love of her life, Erik Andersen, on December 16, 1967, in Haarlev, Denmark.

Vita devoted her life to nurturing others, both as a loving mother to her children and through her fulfilling career as a cook at Woodland Middle School, where she inspired countless students with her lovingly prepared meals. Known for her generosity and warmth, Vita had a special way of making every meal feel like a celebration. Her popular potato salad will be missed tremendously.

Beyond the kitchen, Vita found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in knitting, crafting cozy creations that wrapped her loved ones in warmth, and she filled the air with song, her voice a gentle reminder of the beauty in life’s melody. The Christmas season, with its twinkling lights and joyous spirit, brought her immense happiness, as she reveled in the traditions that brought family and friends together.

A passionate traveler, Vita explored the vast landscapes of the United States, always with an eager heart and an open mind. In 2023, she returned to Denmark, reconnecting with family and friends, embracing her roots one last time, and returning filled with cherished memories.

Vita leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Lars (Margaret) Andersen, Majbritt (Marc Stewart) Andersen-Stewart; grandchildren, Carsten (Monica) Andersen, Jake Andersen, Danika Stewart, Devin Stewart; siblings, nieces, nephews, and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Vita is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Erik Andersen.

To honor Vita’s remarkable journey and the love she shared, a memorial service will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, on December 13, 2024, at 5:00pm, with doors opening for a visitation at 3:00pm. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the beautiful soul that was Vita Andersen.

As we say goodbye, we remember Vita not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the light she brought into our lives. Her laughter will echo in our hearts, her recipes will live on in our kitchens, and her spirit will forever inspire us to embrace each day with love and joy.

Our family wants to thank Mike and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf for their compassion and caring in the death of our mother. They attended to every detail with such professionalism and made this difficult time so much easier by unburdening us of all that needs to be done with the arrangements. We all felt that there was nothing more they could have been done. It was perfect. We can now go forward with the memories that we hold in our hearts of mom and know that we provided the best possible service by choosing Draeger-Langendorf.
