Wallace James Wiggs December 31, 1959 – September 11, 2025

Born on December 31, 1959, in Cook County, Illinois, Wallace was the son of Isaiah and Estelle Wiggs. A proud graduate of his local high school in 1977, he was known for his athleticism and spirit as a member of the football team.

Wallace answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army as a 31M (Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator). Although his military career was cut short due to injury, his dedication and commitment to service remained a defining part of his character.

In 1990, Wallace relocated to Racine, Wisconsin, where he built a rewarding career with Excel Logistics. For over 15 years, he worked as a truck driver and supervisor, earning respect for his hard work and leadership.

A man of deep faith, Wallace rededicated his life to Christ in 1991 at Northside Church of Christ, a commitment that sustained and inspired him throughout his life.

Wallace had a zest for life that was evident in his hobbies and passions. He loved staying active through weightlifting and cycling and had a keen appreciation for a wide range of media—from the humor of the Kings of Comedy and the Bernie Mac Show to the thrill of action favorites like Die Hard and COPS . Hip-hop music from artists like DMX, Ice Cube, and Sugar Hill Gang, was a soundtrack to many of his days. Known for his distinctive style, Wallace was rarely seen without his favorite tracksuits.

On February 7, 1990, Wallace met the love of his life, Leola Wiggs. Their connection was immediate, and they married just over two months later on April 18, 1990. Their marriage was a cornerstone of his life, filled with love, partnership, and mutual support.

Wallace James Wiggs will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the warmth he brought to those around him. Wallace was preceded in death by: Jeneva (Odell) Wiggs-Sumrell; Estelle Wiggs;  Isaiah (Mona) Wiggs. Wallace is survived by his wife Leola; children Devon Wiggs, Jerry (Shavonda) Baker, and Timphanie Lucas; siblings Alex Wiggs, Keycia Golden, Jack Golden, and Joseph Wiggs; nieces and nephews Alex Wiggs, Darion Wiggs, Bettie Wiggs; grandchildren Charles Bonner Jr., Dominique Baker, Mercedes Jackson, Jarion Baker, Jade Baker, Jalen Baker, Kash Wiggs; as well as a host of loving extended family members, friends, and coworkers.

Service Details

Family and friends are invited to meet at Lakeview Church of Christ (3224 Wright Ave., Racine) for a memorial service celebrating Wallace's life and Homegoing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Michael Martin officiating.

A private burial with military honors will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
