Obituary

William Earl Berryhill was born on July 12, 1946, in Slate Spring (Calhoun County), Mississippi to the late Rophy Lee Collier and James Albert Berryhill. He was the 1st to be born of a set of identical twins.

On July 31st, 1966, he was united in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life and his soul mate, Joe Rutha Berryhill. Shortly after that they moved to Racine, Wisconsin and their union was blessed with two children.

William was a very hard-working family man who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to fix old cars, to go to Potawatomi Casino, tell stories that came along with a lot of jokes. He also loved eating breakfast at Hardees and listening to Blues and Southern Soul.

He retired as an assembler from J.I. Case after working there for 30 years in 2004.

William departed from this life on August 30, 2026 and was preceded in death by his parents, Rophy Lee Collier and James Albert Berryhill, his Mother and Father In-Law, Bennetta (Nee: Robinson) and Rufus Starks, his beloved wife, Joe Rutha Berryhill, his identical twin brother, Clement D. Berryhill, his brother, Leon Berryhill, his brother in-laws: Robert Starks, Larry Starks, Nathaniel Starks, Larry Darnell Starks, ML Starks and Clarence Horn, his sister in-laws: Beulah M. Berryhill, Jessie Dean Starks, and Annie D. White (Nee: Starks), his nephews: David Earl Berryhill, Sr., Emmanuel 'Punkin' Howard, and Patrick D. Starks along with special friends Jason and Virgie Holton.

He leaves to cherish his memory Two daughters: Belinda Clayton, JoAnne (Akili) Berryhill El-Amin, One son: Steven Earl Berryhill, Five grandchildren: DeAndre D. Berryhill, Deontae J. Berryhill, Janay A. Curtis, T’Asia M. Brown and Javion D. Berryhill, Six great grandchildren: Arriana Berryhill, Elsie R. Gorbis, Aubrey L. Berryhill, Damari M. Curtis, Jream J. Curtis and Deontae J. Berryhill, Jr., Three sisters: Dora Berryhill of Racine, Wisconsin and Linda (Robert) Brown of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Jerrie (Bill) Evans of Grenada, Mississippi and One brother: Robert (Janine) Berryhill of Antioch, Tennessee.

Special cousin: Gregory Berryhill. Special friends: Carol Seward, Tom Pegues, Jesse Cobbins, OB Simpson, and Willie Lee Whiteside.

A host of nieces and nephews, sister in-laws: Bertha Howard, Dorothy Allen and Gari Horn, brother in-laws: James, Willie and Marvin Starks.

Bonus friends and family: Rayshay (LaShonda) Everton, Adisa (April) Gray, Alexis (Jeff) Jones, Kathy Parker, bonus daughter: Kim Kohel, bonus granddaughter: Melissa Cobbin and bonus grandson: Akili J. Butler, Jr.

William will forever be deeply loved and missed by many including a host of additional beloved relatives and friends that are TOO many to name here.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10 ,2026 at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The service starts at 11:00 am. A burial will immediately follow at Graceland Cemetery.
