Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI (formerly of Chicago and Gurnee) – Bill J. Koch, 73, passed away at Ascension All Saints on January 17, 2022.

He was born in Chicago on May 20, 1948, the son of the late James and Dorothy (nee Rooney) Koch.  Bill graduated from Holy Cross High School in River Grove and the University of Illinois Chicago.

On July 30, 1988, he married Cheryl L. Jung.

Bill retired from Waterloo Industries in Oak Creek.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and spending time in the Upper Peninsula at their vacation home in Crystal Falls.  He also enjoyed motorcycle rides with family and friends and attending Mass at St. Lucy Catholic Church.

In addition to his loving wife Cheryl, Bill is survived by his sister and brothers, Kathy (Dennis) Lewandowski, Jim (Patty) Koch, Tom (Linda) Koch, John (Virginia) Koch, Dan (Leslie) Koch; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian (Anna) Jung and Cynthia Jung; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

    You meant so much to me Uncle Bill. I will miss our lunches with Uncle Danny. I will miss our talks. You were a huge inspiration in my life. You were always calm and could always make me laugh. Our family will not be the same without you, but we will never forget you. You were always there for me, and I will always be there for Aunt Cheryl. Rest In Peace Uncle Bill.     I have fond memories of Bill and his family. Although not related by blood, we always considered them cousins. There were 11 kids between the two families and we were always having fun. Bill was a calm and kind man. I am sure his parents are in heaven and greeted him with open hands and my parents and brother were right behind them.

    Becky and I were so very, very sad to hear about Bill’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Cheryl and yours and Bill’s family. Cheryl, you were always one of my favorite co-workers when we both worked together at MacLean-Fogg. But more importantly, a great friend and Becky and I had the privilege of knowing Bill as well when our “gang” gathered at the Moon cave for the Sundays’ Bears games. It seemed like the Bears mostly played the Packers when we would get together. And of course Bill always seemed to get the best of us as the Packers seemed to beat the Bears. Proof that Bill was such a great guy is that he never really rubbed it in on us Bears fans. He will be missed tremendously. Again, Becky and I send our condolences to your whole, extended family during this sad time.

    Uncle Bill, you always enjoyed the little things like a board game, playing bean bags, sitting around a bonfire, and even watching cartoons with my kids (your great nieces and nephew) and just laughing out loud at the jokes right along with them. I’ll always remember how every song that came on the radio was one of your favorites, and you knew all the words. You had such a positive energy, kindness, and appreciation for family. You and Aunt Cheryl never missed a family party or opportunity for us all to get together ever since I was young and then you were always there for my kids, too. I picture Grandma and Grandpa giving you the biggest hug up there in heaven. I’ll miss you so much, and so will Dave, Blake, Summer and Savannah. We love you and Aunt Cheryl.

    It was such a great pleasure to know Bill and work on the picnic committee with you both. he was such a nice guy. He always worried about us sitting in the heat to do the picnic registrations and made sure we had water to drink. just an all around gentleman. he will be missed by all who knew him.

    Bill was my brother but he was also my lifelong friend. He had a gentle nature and a kind soul. We loved spending time with Bill and Cheryl in Crystal Falls where we were constant companions, fishing, meeting up with family, going on adventures, canoe trips, and sharing laughs over our favorite card game until late in the night. The UP was truly Bill’s happy place.
    Bill was a great brother, a loving husband, and a good person. I will miss him with my whole heart until we meet again. May God grant him eternal joy.

    I am very sorry for your loss. You and Bill are in my prayers. I was lucky to spend time with Bill decades ago when we went through the Chicago Police Academy together. Years later, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had unknowingly moved to within a few blocks of him and got to chat with him occasionally. I lost track of him when he moved away, but after watching his service, I’m happy that he had a life full of great family and good times.
