MOUNT PLEASANT (Formerly of Kenosha) – Mr. William J. Fonk, 91, passed away at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Monday, May 6, 2013.
He was born in Kenosha on Christmas day, 1921 the son of the late Philip and Anna Elizabeth (nee: Coolidge) Fonk.
William worked on his family farm with his father before a long career as a cattle buyer for Kenosha Beef and then as a field man for Frank Pure Foods. After his retirement, he returned to Kenosha Beef part time until his illness prevented him from working.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
William is survived by his brother, Robert W. Fonk of Kenosha; nieces and nephews, Nancy (Michael) Eisen, Dr. Jim (Mary Jean) Fonk, Timothy (Sharon) Fonk, Jane Fonk, Mary (James) Trebbin, Therese (Larry) Winkel; as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and Richard Fonk; sisters-in-law, Edith, Ruth and Lois Fonk and his niece, Linda Fonk.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring St.) on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. for the celebration of his life and Funeral Mass with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A private interment will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park (formerly the Fonk family farm.) There will not be a formal visitation in the church but there will be a gathering after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Hospice Alliance or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
