Racine, WI. – Willie Edward Atterberry, affectionately known as "Bank" to many, was born to Laudellia (nee: Hamilton) Atterberry and Esker "Dusty" Atterberry Sr. on January 18,1951 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He confessed Christ at an early age and continued his faith in God until his death.
Willie was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Corporation for over 35 years, retiring on July 31, 2003.
Willie's love for music and singing career began with the gospel quartet group called "Fireside Junior", where Willie was the lead singer. He started a band later in life known as "The Dynamic Pamps" at the Racine Street Gym, with Chuck Tyler at the helm. The band traveled across the United States. Willie also started another band named "Another Beginning" with his cousins. Willie was a singer with soul, he sang for many funerals, weddings and birthdays.
Willie was a caretaker for many people and would give you his ALL.
Willie went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 21, 2021. He leaves to treasure many loving memories, his wife Flora Atterberry; children Esker (Jeanette) Buckley of Seattle, WA., Tyra L. (Antonio) Jones-Turner, Ardrell D. Young, Saqunda Johnson, Deisha (Richard) Dalton all of Racine, WI; brother Esker Atterberry Jr. of Racine, WI.; sisters Theresa Ann Golden of Hawthorne, CA. and Linda (Darrell) Rice-Bullock of Lancaster, CA.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; mother-in-love Florine Cark of Racine, WI.; brothers-in-love Norman D. Golden Sr., Arthur Lee Cark and Larry (Wendie) Cark all of Racine, WI.; sister-in-love Annette (Tommy) Thomas of New Albany, MS. as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Esker Atterberry Sr.; Laudellia Atterberry and William Rice; grandparents Edward Atterberry, Mary and Willie Hamilton; brothers James C. Atterberry, and Charles Atterberry and his aunt "Mama #1" Hattie Mayfield.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 11:00am at New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave., Racine, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00am – 11:00am.
