Racine – Zula Mae Rodriguez, 80, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born in Tennessee on November 5, 1935, daughter of the late Odie and Ora Ann (nee: Lee) Sampson.
Zula worked hard all her life, working in various factories such as Mamco Corp. and Dremel. She was also a doting homemaker, taking pride in taking special care of her family. Zula loved to spend time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her healthier days, she enjoyed bowling and traveling. She loved to cook and made sure everyone always had enough to eat. Zula's tacos and chicken with mole will surely be missed. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Zula leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sylvia Marquez, Joe (Ann) Rocha, Johnny (Lisa) Rocha, Robin (Vincent) Sabatino, Roger (Vickie) Rodriguez, Vivian (Mike) Krenzke; son-in-law, Ricky (Mattie) Gammons; grandchildren, Melissa Marquez, Tina Marquez, Amy (Jesse) Drost, Lisa (Elliot) Rice, Ryan Rocha, Lisa Rocha, Johnny Rocha, Adam Rocha, Crystal Rocha, Vincent Sabatino, Jerod Rodriguez, Luci Krenzke, Kyler Krenzke; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary "Frances" Allan, Estelle Tippit, Vernelle Gammons; many cherished Rodriguez family in-laws; other family and close friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to her parents, Zula is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Arambula Rodriguez; daughter, Yolanda Gammons; grandson, Cordero "Cord" Rodriguez; brothers, John Sampson and William "Willy" Sampson.
A celebration of Zula's life will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, 12:00pm, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5607 Wright Avenue (corner of Wright Avenue and Green Bay Road), with Rev. David Sincock, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
