Beverly V. Kovacik

Sep 3, 1922 – Nov 5, 2005

Beverly V. Kovacik Racine – Mrs. Beverly V. Kovacik, 83, passed away at University Hospital in Madison on Saturday, November 5, 2005 surrounded by her family. She was born in Kenosha on September 3, 1922 to the late Nicholas and Stella (nee: Sheparek) Otto. On July 10, 1943, at St. Casimir’s Church in Kenosha, she was united in to marriage with Edward J. Kovacik. Beverly graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. Although she worked as a secretary for their business, Racine Roofing and Insulation Company, she was primarily a homemaker, caring for her family. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and most recently, St. Lucy Catholic Church. In addition, she belonged to the St. Cecelia Society and the Racine Women’s Pigeon Auxiliary and several card clubs. Beverly enjoyed spending time at her summer home on Buffalo Lake in Montello, fishing, shopping, and playing cards with her family and friends. Above all, she was a wonderful wife and mother. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Edward, her survivors include her 7 children, Sandra Thielen, Edward “Butch” (Sherry) Kovacik, Dean (Peggi) Kovacik all of Racine, Colleen (Michael) Gaynor of Oak Creek, Jay (Mary) Kovacik of Camp Douglas, WI, Jeffrey (Barbara) Kovacik and Kurt Kovacik both of Racine; 15 grandchildren, Michael and Mark Thielen, Julie Moore, Scott, Brett, and Cory Kovacik, Sean, Pat, Michael Gaynor, Alicia, Brandon, Christopher Kovacik, Maria Haas, Olivia and Solomon Powell; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Yvonne (Tony) Spino of Kenosha and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Dorothy (Warner) Landeau, Lorraine (Bud) Gevers and sisters-in-law, Lillian (George) Resar and Josephine Stanton. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave.) on Friday, November 11, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. for the celebration of her funeral mass with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm and again in the church on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery on Hwy 32. Memorials have been suggested to the family who will establish specific benefactors at a later time.
