Eudora Sanders-Mayfield

Jun 21, 1926 – Nov 22, 2005

Racine – Eudora “Pug” Sanders-Mayfield, 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, November 22, 2005. She was born in Myrtle, Mississippi on June 21, 1926, daughter of the late Elzie and Addie Lee (nee: Austin) Sanders. Pug moved to Racine in the 1960’s and worked at Liebenow’s catering for many years. She later worked at Racine Medical Clinic, and All Saints Healthcare. Pug often used her skill and love of cooking to cater the private parties of many of the medical staff members. She also loved to fish, and above all she loved her family. Pug was a member of Greater St. Luke’s MB Church. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Roy (Faye) Patterson, Elizabeth Gray, Melvin Starks, John Starks all of Racine, and Dexter Witherspoon of Tupelo, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Janae Patterson, Gandy Gray, Nicholas Starks all of Racine, Tracy Patterson of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Kendrick Porters of Madison; six great grandchildren; one brother, Morris (Geraldine) Sanders of New Albany, Mississippi; six sisters, Annie Ruth Howell, Annie Marie Lewis of Racine, Mary Rutherford, Paulette (Larry) Turner, Vera Ivy all of New Albany, Mississippi, and Geneva (John) Hoffman of Memphis, Tennessee; special sister-in-law Callie T. Tatum, special niece JoAnn Mayfield, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was also preceded by her husband James Mayfield; daughter, Dorothy Patterson; three sisters, Virginia Judon, Millie Sue Williams, Martha Jean Sanders; and one brother, LeRoy Sanders. Homegoing services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2005 with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Viewing and visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery. Please meet at the gate at 9:45 a.m. Memorials to the family have been kindly suggested.
