Dennis A. Smith Racine – Dennis August Smith, 89, passed away at the Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on his wife’s birthday, Sunday, January 8, 2006. He was born on November 17, 1916, son of the late Herman and Lizzie (nee: Petzold) Smith. In 1943 he moved to Racine, and was married to Joyce Marie Brandt on June 24, 1943. She died just 3 weeks ago, December 15, 2005 after 62 years of marriage. Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis (Exu) Smith, of South Carolina, Sandra Davis of Michigan, Donald (Suechen) Smith of Florida, Jann Smith of Indiana, David (Cathy) Smith, and Marj Smith both of Sturtevant, Judith Minor, Susan (Darrell) Rockhill, Dick (Karen) Smith, Darlene “Punky” (Robert) McGrath, Linda (Hugo) Gonzalez, and Duane (Pam) Smith all of Racine; 36 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded by one sister, 1 son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren. Private family memorial services will be held this Friday, January 13, 2006 at the chapel of West Lawn Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. Thank you to the staff at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center, Covenant Hospice, and to all who gave Dennis and his family their love and support.
