Evelyn T. Smith

Feb 7, 1962 – Jan 29, 2006

Evelyn T. Smith, 43, passed away unexpectedly, at her residence on Saturday, January 28, 2006. She was born in Racine the daughter of Nathaniel Smith and Barbara (nee: McGee) Smith Freeman. Evelyn was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler and loved her entire family, especially her children. Surviving are her children, Diante Rogers, Dartavis Shelton, Lavoyia Waldrop, Vayta Jones and Miracle Jones, all of Racine; her parents Nathaniel (Louise) Smith and Barbara Freeman; brothers and sisters, Larry Smith, Annie Lou Smith, Thelma Jean Wiggins, Danny K. Smith, Bonnie (Bennie) Wallington all of Racine; step-brothers and step-sisters, Aquanetta Love, Joseph Chavours Jr., Alan Chavours, Darrell Chavours, Corey Chavours, Loleta Chavours all of Racine, Laquanda Chavours of Milwaukee, her very special friend Sam Strong of Racine. Evelyn is further survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her church family and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Regina Martin and Sonja Freeman, and by her step-father Louis Freeman. Her Homegoing Service will be held in Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, February 3rd, at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Daryn Crenshaw officiating. Visitation will be in the Church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to Barbara Freeman who will establish a Trust for Evelyn’s children.
