Rose B. Wirt

Mar 17, 1914 – Jul 29, 2006

Mrs. Rose B. Wirt, 92, passed away at Ridgewood Health Care Center on Saturday, July 29, 2006. She was born in Racine on March 17, 1914 to the late Harry R. and Laura L. (nee: Brinkman) Lehman. She graduated from William Horlick High School. On April 3, 1948, Rose married Victor C. Wirt in Crown Point, IN. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1992. Rose worked for Goldblatt’s Department Store, retiring in 1976. She was a charter member of Epiphany Lutheran Church where she served on the altar committee and home guild. Rose is survived by her son, David (Sandy) Wirt; granddaughter, Stacey (Jason) Bates; great grandchildren, Sophie, Simone and Sebastian Bates all of Racine; sister, Bette Pitts; special nieces, Kris Brandon (also Rose’s godchild), Julie Dupay and their families all of Minnesota; special godchild, Anita (Chuck) Brothers of Kenosha as well as many other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her first husband, Gordon Mikkelsen and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also preceded Rose in death. Family and friends are invited to meet at Epiphany Lutheran Church (2921 Olive St.) on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. for a service celebrating Rose’s life with Rev. Michael Zarling officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation in the church on Thursday from 10-11:30 a.m. Rose’s family has suggested memorials to either Epiphany Lutheran Church or Racine Lutheran High School. All who new her, loved her. She will be sadly missed for her kindness, cheerfulness, sense of humor and ever loving nature. A special thanks to Ridgewood Healthcare Center, especially 1-West and Odyssey Hospice for the love and kindness Rose received while in their care. It was truly appreciated by her family.
