Racine- Philip Pierangeli, 91, passed away in Kenosha at the Hospice Alliance-Hospice House on Sunday, November 5, 2006.

Phil was born in Kenosha on June 30, 1915 to the late Ladislao and Pasquina (nee: Rossini) Pierangeli. A graduate of Kenosha High School, Phil went on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Gateway Technical College, receiving a degree in Traffic Law and Transportation.

On November 16, 1940 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Yolanda Aiello.

Phil proudly served our Country with the United States Army in WWII from March 25, 1943 – January 17, 1946 where he earned two Bronze Stars with Philippine Liberation and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbons, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Prior to his retirement, Phil had been employed as a corporate traffic manager at Jacobsen Textron from 1959 – 1977 and also worked as a general foreman at Modine Mfg. for 18 years.

He was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and St. Lucy Catholic Church; the Holy Name Society; member of the Knights of Columbus – Council 697 and 4th degree member of Assembly 1207; the Roma Lodge; past-president of Racine/Kenosha Traffic Club; Kenosha High School Alumni Assn.; former member of the Delta New Alpha Traffic Club; and was active in various golfing and bowling leagues in the area. Phil also enjoyed singing and ballroom dancing. Above all, Phil loved being in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 65 years, Yolanda; daughter, Barbara Grabow of Monroe; sons, Philip A. (Mary) Pierangeli of California and Dr. Greg Pierangeli of Racine; grandchildren, Barry (Cindy) Grabow, Dina (Pedro) Ortiz, Anthony Pierangeli, Joseph Pierangeli, Alyssa Pierangeli and Jonathan Pierangeli; great-grandsons, Vincent and Dominic Ortiz; sister, Irma (Paul) Ferraro of Kenosha; sisters-in-law, Viola Pierangeli of Racine; Frances Pierangeli of Carthage, IL; Carmelina Aiello and Mary Ruffalo, both of Racine; and by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brothers, Gino (Lorraine), Dino and Eligio Pierangeli; sister, Cleo (Pio) Renzoni; and by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom (Joyce), Frank (Lucille), Justy, and Warren (Mary) Aiello; Edith (Chester) Perrelle; Carmella (Arthur) Greco and Charles Ruffalo.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 6:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 pm with the Roma Lodge rites at 5 pm. All are invited to attend the interment ceremony, with military honors, on Friday at the chapel of the S. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Hwy C in Union Grove, at 11 am. In memory of Phil, memorials to the Knights of Columbus or Roma Lodge (to be used at their discretion for charitable benefit) have been suggested.

I would like to thank Dr. Michael Mullane and his entire staff; the Infusion Center at All Saints; and the V.A. Medical Center in Union Grove for the fine care that was given to me during my illness. I was very pleased with all of your services especially your friendship. Love- Phil

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
