Joan Ellen Overby

May 19, 1941 – Jan 31, 2007

Racine – Joan Ellen Overby, 65, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. She was born in Summit, Wisconsin on May 19, 1941, the daughter of the late Harold and Ellen (nee: Noonan) Piper. She lived most of her life in Racine. On July 15, 1966 she was united in marriage to Jessie R. Overby in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Joan enjoyed a successful career in hotel management and other job professions. She was a member of Racine Bible Church, where she delighted in singing in the choir. It was her family however, that was most important to her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jessie; her children, Julie Brown of Racine, David Blaesing of Orlando, Florida, Deborah Schultz of Racine, and Timothy Blaesing of Sturtevant; eight grandchildren; Steven, Eric, Gwen, Shane, Chad, Jeremy, Jessica, Justin, and 3 great grandchildren; Noah, William, Alexander and her sister, Maureen (Gary) Johnson of Racine; niece, Lisa Zeisberger of Racine; nephew, Michael Johnson of Milwaukee; her former daughters-in-law, Lori Blaesing, and Lori Griffin; former sons-in-law, Ken Brown, and Norman Schultz; former mother-in-law Geraldine Blaesing; former brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Lois Blaesing. She is further survived by many dear friends, including; Lee Ann, JoAnn, Maureen, Rex and Joyce, the Kuleski Family, Ma Rocket, Barb, Carrie, Racine Bible Church and Choir, John and Sandy, Judy, Mark, Bill, Mike, Celia, Rachel, Jackie, Luis, Karen, Katie, Julie and Larry, Douglas, Jessica, and Nick.

Funeral services will be held at Draeger – Langendorf funeral home on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Miesel officiating. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, February 4, 2007 from 3 pm – 5 pm, and on Monday beginning at 10:00 am.

Joan’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Cindy, Tammi, Pat, Wendy Ann, Amy, Chaplain Tim, Chaplain Brent, and all of Asera Care Hospice, Chaplain Art, and Dr. Lawal of Froedtert Hospital, also all those who have helped Joan and our family through this difficult time.
