Elizabeth "Betty" Brandt

Jan 27, 1932 – Feb 15, 2007

Racine – Elizabeth L. Brandt, 75, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints Hospital on Thursday, February 15, 2007. She was a lifetime resident of Kenosha, the daughter of Lawrence and Jane (nee: Strang) Hinz. She was married on August 28, 1954 to Richard C. Brandt in the chapel at Great Lakes Naval Base. Elizabeth was proud of her life’s work, that of a mother and homemaker, and was equally proud of her seven children. She was creative, and enjoyed sewing and other crafts, and reading. She also liked to travel to Door County, Swim-nastics at the K.Y.F., and getting together with her Friday Morning Breakfast Club. She was formerly a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church for many years, and currently a member of St. Peter’s Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Brandt of Racine; their children, Jean (Mark) Doud, and Mary Brandt both of Phoenix, Arizona, Richard Brandt of Racine, Ruth Brandt, and Susan (Ricardo) Toris both of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ann (James) Smessaert of West Allis, and James Brandt of Racine; 9 grandchildren; brother, John (Marie) Hinz of Kenosha; as well as many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Lawrence Hinz. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 19, 2007 from 5-7 p.m., followed by a parish vigil. Visitation will continue at St. Peter’s Church, 2224 30th Avenue, on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Entombment at All Saints Cemetery will follow. Memorials to the Kenosha Achievement Center have been suggested.
