Aug 2, 1926 – Mar 22, 2007

Racine- Marion Jean (nee: Sittig) Joyner, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 22, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifetime resident, she was born in Racine on August 2, 1926 to the late Albert and Agnes (nee: Seitz) Sittig. A 1944 graduate of Washington Park High School, she went on to be employed with Sears Roebuck for over 35 years. Following retirement, she worked part-time at First Wisconsin Bank. On September 6, 1947 in Atonement Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with Walter L. Joyner, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1981. Marion was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed knitting and playing dartball. Above all, she loved being in the surroundings of her entire family. Surviving are her children, Walt (Renata) Joyner of Paremata, New Zealand; Jane (Don) Seitz of Yorkville; and Jeff (Linda) Joyner of Sussex; daughter-in-law, Terri Joyner of Monticello; grandchildren, Eric Seitz of Yorkville and Meghan Joyner of Sussex; brother, Leonard Sittig of Racine; brother-in-law, Oscar Joyner of Brookfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by her beloved son, Thomas Joyner; brother, Robert (Shirley) Sittig; brother-in-law, Robert Joyner; and sisters-in-law, Rose Sittig and Kay Joyner. A memorial service celebrating Marion’s life will be held in Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Ave., on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. A reception will follow the services at church. Visitation will be held in church on Saturday from 9-10 am. In accordance with Marion’s wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Atonement Church or to the American Cancer Society has been suggested. A special note of thanks to Dr. Michael P. Mullane and to Hospice Alliance for the compassionate end-of-life care that was so warmly extended to Marion and to our family.
