
Racine- Mary Marcelina “Marcy” Kangas, 58, passed away at her home on Good Friday, April 6, 2007 at 5:25 pm, surrounded with the love of her family, after a valiant five-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Marcy was born on November 2, 1948 to Harry and Betty (nee: Harper) Wisinger. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1966. Marcy was united in marriage in Kenosha to the love of her life, Wes Kangas. Mary had been employed by Tri-Clover from 1985 until 1993. In 1993, they moved to Portland, OR when Wes was transferred by Daimler-Chrysler. Marcy worked for FCNB Financial in Oregon. Upon his retirement, Marcy and Wes moved back to Racine/Kenosha to be near their beloved newborn granddaughter, Shawna. In addition to spoiling Shawna, Marcy enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, especially spending time on her riding lawn mower. She will be remembered for her incredible thoughtfulness and her sincere willingness in placing the needs of others before her own. Surviving are her loving husband, Wes; son, Bryan Roemer; granddaughter (who was the apple of her eye), Shawna Roemer; mother, Betty Wisinger; step-daughters, Holly Kangas and Erin (fiancé, Doug St. Martin) Kangas; second mother, Marcella Larson; sister, Barbara Jerome; sister-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Biedscheid; brothers-in-law, Ken Kangas and Russell (Holly) Kangas; nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Marcy was preceded in death by her father, Harry Wisinger and brother, John Wisinger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. -Racine, on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 11 am with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 pm and in the church on Friday from 10-11 am. In memory of Marcy, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or to the Jane Cremer Foundation (for educating and empowering women in the fight against cancer) have been suggested.
