Raymond Joseph Nelson

Sep 17, 1931 – Apr 7, 2007

Racine- Raymond Joseph Nelson, 75, passed away at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee on Saturday, April 7, 2007. Ray was born in Racine on September 17, 1931 to the late Carl Lee and Agnes Marie (nee: Wasquite) Nelson. A 1949 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, he went on to faithfully serve our Country with the United States Army from 1951-1954 in the Korean War. Ray was employed for exactly 30 years to the day at the Case Corp. as a quality control inspector. He was a member of the Case 20 Year Club. A little rough on the outside with an enormous heart of gold, Ray will be remembered for his incredible desire to help those in need and his profound desire for donating to worthy charities and organizations. He will be dearly missed. Surviving are his sisters, Ruth Garski and Marge (Joe) Jurik; brothers, Joe Nelson, Kenneth (Lois Kilby) Nelson and Michael Nelson; and by his many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl R. (Hildegard) Nelson and James Arlington; sister-in-law, Judy Nelson; and brother-in-law, Chester Garski. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow at Buona Vita Restaurant. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 2-3 pm. Inurnment, with military honors, will take place in the S. WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, April 17th, at 12:00 noon. In memory of Ray’s courageous struggle with emphysema, memorials to the American Lung Assn. has been suggested. A special note of thanks to the wonderful staff at the Veteran’s Home in Union Grove for their attentive care and friendship extended to Ray over the past few years. Ray greatly appreciated all you did for him.

Testimonials

Linda

After the passing of our loved one, the time came to make the arrangements for his funeral and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more kind and caring as Mark was. He picked up on all the little details and things we held close to our hearts and made the celebration of this wonderful man’s life very special. Even playing taps along with the honor guard, Mark we can’t thank you enough…our heartfelt thanks go out to you and the staff.
Sincerely, THE GENE GRABHER FAMILY
