Olive A. Markle

May 9, 1922 – Apr 15, 2007

Union Grove- Olive A. (nee: Arthur) Markle, 84, passed away at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove, WI on Sunday, April 15, 2007. Olive was born in Hannibal, MO on May 9, 1922 to the late Elvin and Elizabeth (nee: Conrad) Arthur. On April 12, 1947 she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Arthur Markle. They moved to Union Grove from West Allis in 1967. Arthur preceded her in death on February 20, 1994. Olive had been employed by Allen-Bradley as a line supervisor and as a cook at the Nautical Inn. She was a longtime member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Union Grove. Olive enjoyed dancing, especially during the WWII era, at military social dances where she met her beloved Arthur. Among her interests, Olive enjoyed gardening, bowling and was a phenomenal cook. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family. Surviving are her daughter, Colleen (Terry) O’Brien of Kansasville; grandchildren, Maureen Wiess of West Allis; Rachel Moerke of Kansasville; Jason O’Brien of Racine; and Shannon O’Brien of Kansasville; brother, Sidney Arthur of Brookfield; and by other special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Olive was preceded in death by her sister, Sherry (Edward) Erdmann and sister-in-law, June Arthur. Memorial services will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-6 pm. Private inurnment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staff at Oak Ridge Care Center for their compassionate care, support, and friendship that was so warmly extended to Olive during the past two years.
