George P. Dament

Feb 4, 1936 – May 27, 2007

George P. Dament, 71, died at the Howard Young Medical Center, in Minocqua, on Sunday May 27, 2007. He was born in Racine on February 4, 1936, the son of the late James and Mabel (nee: Johnson) Dament. George graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1955. On June 21, 1958, in St. Rose Catholic Church here in Racine, he was united in marriage to the former Carol Beguhl. George served his country with the U.S. Army. He had been employed by the Western Publishing Company for over 39 years. George and Carol lived in Racine until moving to northern Wisconsin after their retirement. George and Carol loved wintering in Florida and traveled throughout the U.S. He was a great navigator, and avid hunter, and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved the time he spent with his family. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife, of nearly 49 years, Carol; their children Robert Dament of Reno, NV, Joseph (Linda) Dament of Racine, Debra (Russell) Kuepper of Woodruff, WI, Christina (Gary) Haas of Waupun, WI, and Patricia Dament of Reno, NV; 9 grandchildren, Lee, Lucas, and Daniel Kuepper of Woodruff, Amanda, August and Samantha Haas of Waupun, Tyler and Karysa Dament of Racine and Troy Dament, serving with the U.S. Marines in Iraq; brother James (Lois) Dament in St. Paul, MN; 2 brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by 4 sisters and a brother-in-law. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, June 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will be in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
