Dorothy M. Kosterman

Jul 10, 1929 – Aug 29, 2007

Racine – Dorothy M. Kosterman, 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at All Saints Hospital. Dot was born in Racine on July 10, 1929, daughter of the late George and Marie (nee: Mauer) Pias. She was a life long resident. On June 10, 1950 in Holy Name Catholic Church she was united in holy matrimony to Frederick G. Kosterman, Jr. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2002. Dot loved her job as wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and loved to decorate the windows of her home according to the season. For many years she raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by holding backyard carnivals.. Baking cookies was also a favorite pastime, and she was known throughout the neighborhood as the “cookie lady”. Her grandchildren were the light in her life, and she loved to spend as much time with them as she could. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Clare) Kosterman of Racine, Michael (Catherine) Kosterman of Toledo, Ohio, Linda Kosterman, Susan Sapp, Kathleen (Steven) Rogers, and Kenneth Kosterman all of Racine; 13 grandchildren, Eric, Alex, Heidi, Peter, Michael, Scott, Rebecca, David, Dana, Bridget, Amanda, Ashley, and Brooke; 3 great-grandchildren, Sean, Alayna, and Natalie; brother, Ken Pias; and brother-in-law, Richard Anderson. She was also preceded by her granddaughter, Molly Marie; her brother, Dean Pias; and her sister, Georgia Anderson. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1501 Grand Avenue, on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia will follow. All are invited to visit with the family at church from 9 – 10:15 a.m. Memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association have been suggested. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Brady Welsh; and the staff at All Saints Hospital 2C, especially Peppa and Lisa. You are very special people for what you do. God Bless You.

    Mom/Dot,
We will always remember the last few years because you always made sure Molly’s grave was taken care of. Mike always talked about what a great mom you were and how you were always a giving mom. It is hard for both of us, since you are the last parent to pass. We will always remember the holidays and try to keep the traditions going with our family. We are so sorry you never got to meet Natalie in person, but hope all the pictures helped. We will always keep you in our prayers and in our hearts. Love always,Mike and Cathy

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Bill’s service was beautiful, beyond belief. Leslie was priceless in all she did. Gary, knowing Bill for many years, said a few words at the service. The special touched I didn’t expect warmed my heart. Two very, very special people helped make a sad day into something very special.

Thank you to all those that helped behind the scene, setting up, opening doors. My heart is full.

Bless you.

Helene Hellesen
