Kenosha- Gilbert A. Wiegert, 77, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2007 at United Health System – Kenosha Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side. On April 15, 1950 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with Bernadine V. Reener, who preceded him in death on October 8, 1993. Gilbert proudly served our community with the Kenosha Fire Department for 25 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 1984. In addition, he enjoyed his employment as an automobile salesman, especially during his retirement. Gilbert was a tireless family man with a strong work ethic. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Surviving are his seven children, Michael (Linda) Wiegert of Mansfield, TX; Nancy (Jim) Grube of Sun Lakes, AZ; Thomas Wiegert of Newcastle, CO; Kathleen (Paul) Leipzig, Christine (Paul) Andersen, Sharon (Jeffrey) Thiele, all of Kenosha; and Karen Wiegert of Lakeland, FL; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Gilbert was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Wiegert; sister, Sheryl Creamer; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm and on Saturday from 9-10 am. A special note of thanks to our father’s personal caregiver, Rod Sadovnyk, for the compassionate care he extended, giving him the opportunity to remain in his own home. Our family especially recognizes Nick Torresin for helping his Grandpa in a time of need.

Dear Chris & Paul,
We are truly sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with your father at St. Catherine’s Hospital – he worked part-time on the ortho floor. He was a very hard worker and always very helpful. He made work alot of fun too.
Sincerely,
Joyce & Ozzie

Your Daughter, Chris & family says
Dear Dad,
Paul, Michelle and I miss you so much that it hurts. Michelle is so sad that she doesn’t have any Grandpas anymore.
I hope you no longer have any pains, fears or anxiety and are no longer afraid. Because instead of the dark, I know you are with Mom, Grandma, Uncle Robert, Sheryl, Uncle Casey, Aunt Vera, other family, and all of your friends again.
Please know that you no longer have to worry about your little girl, Chrissy. Paul & Michelle will do the best they possibly can to care for me as they have been in the past 2 years. I will continue to fight to improve my health–I’ll never give up–just like you.
Thank you for your nightly prayers, and for your empathy. You & I sure had alot in common due to illness (having to ask for help, which neither of us was ever good at; and knowing what it was like to just feel so ill you could not even speak). Your worry and support will never be forgotten.
Dad–you raised a daughter who learned the important things in life from you and I will be grateful for that forever. You have my promise that I will continue to be a good wife and mother, helpful to my friends, neighbors & elders, and that I will make sure your granddaughter, Michelle, is raised to be respectful, appreciative, humble, loving, and, above all–a good person. Because that is what you have made me.
Love,
Your Daughter, Chrissy
Son-In-Law, Paul
Granddaughter, Michelle
