Delores Jane Hance

Apr 4, 1919 – May 3, 2008

Racine – Delores Jane Hance, 89, passed away at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Saturday, May 3, 2008. She was born in Crawfordville, Indiana on April 4, 1919, daughter of the late Ordel and Iona (nee: Cartwright) Yount. On December 25, 1936 in Danville, Illinois she was united in holy matrimony to James Hance. Mr. Hance preceded her in death in 1998. In 1941, Delores and her family moved from Danville to Racine, where she began working at JC Penney. After she and Jim moved to Manitowoc, she worked as a clerk in the engineering department at Foley Manufacturing. She was an active and faithful member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, and spent many hours each year preparing for the annual church bazaar. She enjoyed sewing and other handicrafts, and was an award winning needlework artist. Delores was blessed with a loving family and to have had a beautiful 60-year marriage with her husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dick Ganzel of Racine, Carol and Dane Kellett of Westminster, Colorado, and Deborah and Dennis Wage of Nashville, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren, Sarah (Jim) Anspaugh, Tim Ganzel, Daina (John) Schiel, Andrew Kellett, Beth (Will) Hunter, Christopher Wage, Ashley Wage, and Jonathan Wage; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Don (Donna) Yount of Mesa, Arizona; sister Bonnie Crawford; and brother-in-law Kenneth Snook, both of Danville, Illinois, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Yount, and sister, Alice Snook. Memorial services will be held at the Mound Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In memory of Delores, donations to the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manitowoc have been suggested.
