Harriet J. Rosinski

Nov 15, 1917 – Jul 7, 2008

Mrs. Harriet “Hattie” J. Rosinski, 90, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Monday, July 7, 2008. She was born in Poland on November 15, 1917, the daughter of the late Walter and Pearl (nee: Ulicki) Kuczynski. She moved to Racine at the age of ten. On February 26, 1938, she married Leo J. Rosinski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where they would remain members until the churches consolidated and formed St. Richard of Chichester. Leo preceded her in death on October 27, 1997. Mrs. Rosinski worked as a department manager at Goldblatt’s for over 25 years, retiring in 1981. She later worked part time at Kohl’s Department Store, in the kitchen at St. Stanislaus, and working estate sales for Marian Cantele & Company. Mrs. Rosinski thoroughly enjoyed playing bingo and the slots at Potawatomi and HoChunk with her sister Gay. She and Leo were huge fans of everything Disney, and especially loved trips to California’s Disneyland, where they took over a dozen children of family & friends over the years. Hattie and Leo were known by all as kind and very generous people. It was widely rumored that Santa Claus lived in their attic, and come Christmas, all the kids were sure of it. Mrs. Rosinski is survived by her niece, Kathryn Novak of Racine; great nephews, Michael (Amanda Below) Tomaloff & Christopher Tomaloff; special friends, Jack and Audrey Moore of Racine; as well as other nieces and nephews, relatives, and many friends. Mrs. Rosinski was also preceded in death by her infant son; brother, Zyg Kuczynski, sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Chuck Chobanian; and Kathy’s husband, William Novak. Her life and memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church (15th St. and Grand Ave.) on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Her cremains will be entombed at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be a visitation in the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Memorials in Mrs. Rosinski’s name have been suggested to St. Richard Catholic Church. Our family would like to recognize Vickie Kerkowski and Home Instead Senior Care for the compassionate attention given to Aunt Harriet. Thank you.

Never will I know or love a more caring and self-less individual. I’m proud to say that she helped raise me as her own. My mom even told me that her and Uncle Leo had thanked her in the past for allowing her to do so.

    I love you, Auntie.

I’d like to thank Brian Langendorf and staff for putting on a great memorial and celebration of life service for my mom. We received great feedback from our family and friends. My dad was especially appreciative on how it went and was very happy with the result. Thank you!!
