Lester Rosenbaum

vet
Nov 19, 1926 – Oct 4, 2010

Racine – Lester R. “Rosie” Rosenbaum, 83, formerly of Sturtevant, passed away at home on October 4, 2010. He was born in Racine on November 19, 1926, son of the late Maximilian and Pearl (nee: Lubinski) Rosenbaum. On November 9, 1946 he was united in holy matrimony to Marie L. Richter at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant.

Rosie was a proud Navy veteran who began his 42 year career during WWII, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1985. Upon his return to Sturtevant, he began work for the Milwaukee Road railroad as an agent/operator. A man of many interests and talents, Rosie enjoyed bowling, gardening and working in his yard, making jewelry, and reading. He was an avid Packer fan, and loved everything about the railroad and the Navy.  He was a member of Deutscher Männer Verein; and the St Sebastian Church Choir.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Marie; and their children, Barb (Bob) Bertzyk, and Charles Rosenbaum both of Racine, Timothy (Gynith) Rosenbaum of Richland center, Donald Rosenbaum in California, and Jeanine (David Williams) Griffith of Marcellus, Michigan; grandchildren, Robert (Dawn) Bertzyk, Tammy (Tim) Nickl, and Robin (Jenny) Bertzyk all of Racine, Joseph (Erica) Jensen of Birchwood, and Ian White of Richland Center; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Dolores Peterson of Sohorita, Arizona, and Arlene Rosenbaum of Kenosha; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Rosenbaum; six brothers, and one sister.

The funeral mass for Lester R. Rosenbaum will be held in St. Sebastian Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October12, 2010 with Fr. Paul Raczynski officiating. Interment and military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin in the church at 10 a.m. Memorials to the family have been suggested.

Our family extends a special thank you to the angels at Wheaton Franciscan Home HealthCare and Hospice; and also to our friends, Vicki and Kevin.

Testimonials

December 19, 2016

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and his staff. They go above and beyond what is required of a funeral home. He has always met my desires and goes beyond what I ask. He always makes it a little more special. He has blessed me and my family many times and comforted us when we are aching because of our loss. I am always confident that he will do his very best, and he always has.
Thank you Michael and staff. May you all have a Blessed Christmas season and New Year

Julie Weyhrauch
