Frank R. Candela

vet
Apr 1, 1928 – May 6, 2011

Frank R. Candela, 83, passed away in WFH-All Saints on Friday, May 6, 2011, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Racine on April 1, 1928, the son of the late Francesco and Concetta (nee: Ruffolo-Greco) Candela. Frank was a lifetime resident of Racine

He was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. Frank served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent his entire career in the trucking industry with over 30 years of service with OK Trucking. Frank was a lifetime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where he was the longest continuous usher at 4:00 o’clock Mass.  He was a very active member of Roma Lodge where he volunteered at Bingo and the annual festival. He enjoyed his weekly breakfast group with his friends from the YMCA. Frank’s life long dream was met in 2008 when he traveled to Italy to visit his overseas relatives. Being with family and friends was Frank’s greatest love. His infectious smile and quick wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his sisters, Betty Candela, whom he lived with all his life, Edith (Chuck) DAcquisto, all of Racine, and Evelyn Ziccarelli, of Kenosha; 10 very special nieces and nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews, and 16 great-great nieces and nephews. Other relatives and a host of friends further survive him.  In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister and two brothers-in-law, Acquline and Louis Russo and Ralph Ziccarelli.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. on Monday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones and Deacon Russell Missureli officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Private entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum Hwy 32.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Gerald Cooper Scholarship Fund or to the family to establish a living memorial at a later date.
