MOUNT PLEASANT – Jack Calvin Dudley passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee after a short illness on September 11, 2012. He was born on December 9th, 1934 to Calvin and Marie (Hachoogan) Dudley in Racine, WI.
Jack received his education in Racine, graduating from Park High School. He went on to earn a B.S. and Master Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1957, Jack married the late Marcia Jane Smith. Together they had three children; Kathryn, Jacqueline and Jonathan Dudley. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and spent three years in Japan with the Navy Seabees, (The Civil Engineering Corps). After returning to the US, he continued to serve in the Navy and Army Reserves, retiring in 1982 after 20 years as a Lieutenant Commander, CEC in the Navy and a Major Commander in the Army.
Jack worked as a Senior Project Engineer for Modine Manufacturing in Racine, where he held patents for a Parallel Flow Refrigeration Condenser. a Water Production Manager at the Kenosha Water Utility and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where he was the Director of the Physical Plant until he retired in 1991. Among his many and varied interests he became a private pilot flying his Beechcraft Musketeer (The Mouse) to places like Florida and Oklahoma. He also enjoyed many Sunday morning breakfasts with his airport buddies at various Wisconsin airports. He was certified in scuba diving, a skilled carpenter and woodworker, building his home on Lake Michigan, of which he was extremely proud. He was a collector and especially enjoyed driving classic cars back to Wisconsin from California with his wife, Karen.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Karen (nee Robers). They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 24th, 2012. They traveled the world together from the Antarctic to the Amazon and across the United States visiting National Parks and Monuments. He is also survived by his children; Kate (Maria Trumpler) Dudley, Jonathan (Suzana) Dudley and Jacqueline Dudley, as well as step-children, Lynnette, (Lee) Jordan, Ronald (Cadie) Lourigan and John Lourigan, his beloved grandchildren Emily and Anne Berman, Christina, Calvin and William Dudley, and step grandchildren Nebben and Jeffrey Jordan, Joseph, Todd, Tom and Kevin Lourigan, step great grandchildren, Brayden Jordan, Nebben Jordan Jr. and his faithful Collie, MacDuff. Jack has two sisters Jeanette (Warren) Knapp and Patricia (Carl) Kishline, and nieces and nephews, Carrie and Peter Kishline, Laura Knapp, Sara (Bill) Nicolls & Cecilie (Nate) Spencer and great nephews Calvin and Jason Spencer and great niece Hope Spencer. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janet Gatti, Stella Robers, Chris (Al) Malik, John (Barb) Robers, Dave (Linda) Robers and Alan (Kathy) Robers and many other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday evening for a visitation from 5-7 p.m. A service celebrating his life will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. His interment will follow with military honors at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will also be time to meet with the family on Wednesday morning from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wounded Warriors; http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org, would be appreciated.
