
Racine–Charles Ervin Gorsegner, 90, passed away peacefully at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Thursday morning, September 27, 2012.
Charles was born in Oakwood, WI on February 27, 1922 to the late Emil and Erma (nee: Vanslow) Gorsegner. He proudly served our Country in the United States Army during WWII from 1942-43.
On October 26, 1946 in Caledonia, Charles was united in marriage to Lucille “Sue” (nee: Prochnow) Gorsegner. He was employed as a machinist for the Falk Corp. in Milwaukee. Following retirement, Charles and Sue moved to Minocqua, WI. Sue died unexpectedly on December 27, 1994. He returned to Racine in 2003.
With a deep Christian faith, Charles was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. James A. (Debra) Gorsegner of Pigeon, MI and David A. (Sharon) Gorsegner of Racine; grandchildren, Jason (Karry), Joel, Joshua (Erica), Melissa, John and Michael Gorsegner; and Holly (Neal) Lowrance; great-grandchildren, Paxton Akins; Riley and Addison Lowrance; Ava and Titus Gorsegner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer (Evelyn) Gorsegner; and sister, Dorothy (Arthur) Wolter.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (7900 Nicholson Rd. in Caledonia) on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. David Wierschke officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 11 am – 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lincoln Lutheran Society or Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church have been suggested.
