Stephen Sadlon

vet
Sep 3, 1919 – Dec 5, 2014

Racine – Stephen Sadlon, 95, was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, December 5, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Stephen was born on September 3, 1919 in Yonkers, N.Y.  On June 4, 1950, Stephen married his beloved wife, the former Mary Sivik, in Yonkers, N.Y.  Sadly, she preceded him in death on April 5, 2011 after 60 years of marriage.

Stephen served in the U.S. Army (Forth Infantry Division and 22nd Infantry Regentment) February 1941 – October 1945 where he served his country honorably and proudly, having landed on Utah Beach in France at the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day.

A man of great faith, Stephen was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. He was employed by Modine Manufacturing Co. for 33 years as a senior draftsman, retiring in 1984.  Stephen enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing, watching sports and most importantly, spending time with his entire family.

He is survived by his loving children, Mary (John Helland) Kolton-Karpowicz,  Stephen (Jody) Sadlon, Theresa (Vincent) Trentadue, Joseph (Janet) Sadlon, Rose (David Baumann) Sadlon and Michael Sadlon; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law , Nancy Sivik; brother-in-law, Andrew Crill; niece, Catherine Crill Klotz; and nephew, Barry Sadlon. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mary and parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Wickline; brother, John Sadlon; sister, Anna; brother-in-laws, John and Steve Sivik; sisters-in-law,  Mary Sadlon, Rose Sivik and Helen Crill; and nephews, John Sadlon Jr. & Edward Sadlon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. A life celebration luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm (Rosary recited at 7:30 pm) and in the church on Thursday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested mass intentions for Stephen to St. Lucy’s Catholic Church or donations to one’s favorite charity. On-line words of inspiration and comfort can be made by visiting www.draeger-langendorf.com.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Richard Clark and staff for the many years of compassionate medical care and support given to our Dad. May God bless all of you!

My dear friend Rose and family,
Although I never had the opportunity to meet “DAD”, I feel I know him enough through all the wonderful things I have heard. My prayers for consolation and peace are with all of you, and wishing all a blessed Christmas.

    Rose,
Sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. He was one of the greatest generations that sacrificed a lot as noted by his experience in Normandy. I am sure he will be sorely missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Steve was the last of the WWII heroes. My words are limited here so I can only say that I loved your daughter, Helen, with all of my heart. Rest gently Stefan, rest gently.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
