Columbus "Mr. C-Boy" Moore

Nov 17, 1935 – Jan 24, 2009

Columbus H. Moore, 73, was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 24, 2009. Affectionately known as “C-Boy”, Columbus was born in Quitman, MS on November 17, 1935 the son of the late Ernest and Corrine (nee: Hearn) Moore. Mr. C-Boy had been employed by Belle City Malleable for over 20 years. He was a longtime and active member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang with the Male Chorus and Mass Choir, also serving on the finance team. Mr. C-Boy was a kindhearted, generous man who was always available to help others. Known for his delightful sense of humor and quaint sayings, he was the self-proclaimed “captain of the ship” and we all were members of the crew. Surviving are his children, Vera (James) Reid, Veronica (Ricky) Hale, Barbara Seymour, all of Stonewall, MS, Rosie (Ardis) Davis of Houston, TX, and Gregory Moore of Macomb, MS, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, sister Minnie Dumas of Racine, sister-in-law, Bernice Moore of Tampa, FL, special niece Betty Dumas of Racine; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. C-Boy also leaves to cherish his memory his extended family, his loving companion of 25 years, Georgia Hamilton of Racine; her children, Annie Payne, Herbert Hamilton, Alicia (Richard) Green, Judith (Percy) Beechem, Stephanie Hamilton all of Racine, and Richard (Patty) Hamilton of Belleville, IL, 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and the little apple of his eye, Maleah McKnight. In addition to his parents, Mr. C-Boy was preceded in death by his brother Charles Moore and extended family member, Michael O. Hamilton. His Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, January 30th with Rev. Daryn D. Crenshaw officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Gary, You and your staff are really special people. I and my family felt so blessed that all of the funeral arrangements were in your thorough and caring hands. One helpful meeting and then you took care of all the arrangements – and we knew we need not worry about one thing.
