Verdonna "Aunt Noni" Kosiba

May 15, 1933 – Feb 7, 2009

Racine – Verdonna L. (nee: Svendsen) Kosiba, 75, affectionately known to many as “Aunt Noni”, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Verdonna was born in New Hartford, MN on May 15, 1933 to the late Peter and Minnie (nee: Bell) Svendsen. She moved to Kenosha in 1948 and then to Racine in 1950. Verdonna was a 1952 graduate of William Horlick High School. On June 12, 1969, she was united in marriage with Martin K. “Bugs” Kosiba, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2003. Following high school, Verdonna worked as a nursing aide with local hospitals. In 1958, she began a 35 year career with Walker Mfg., retiring in 1993. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection since 1950. Verdonna was also a proud member of the VFW Post 1391 Auxiliary. Never having children of their own, Noni and Bugs always gave special love to all their nieces and nephews, and had a unique bond with her “Britta” – Brittany Conner. Surviving are her brothers, Richard Svendsen and Gordon (Monica) Svendsen; brothers-in-law, Bernard (Patt) Kosiba and Lloyd Thornton; sister-in-law, Patsy Schatz; and many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents and husband, Verdonna was preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria (David) Norby and Karen Thornton. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Dr. M.A. Miritz officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm. In accordance with Verdonna’s wishes, cremation will follow the services. A heartfelt note of thanks to caregivers- Nellie, Kevin, and the girls; and to Hospice Advantage- for the loving attention and support.
