Margaret Mary Csik

Jan 14, 1923 – May 13, 2009

Racine – Margaret Mary (nee: Yankech) Csik, 86, affectionately known to many as “Midge”, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. A lifetime resident, Margaret was born in Racine on January 14, 1923 to the late Joseph and Pauline (nee: Strelec) Yankech. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1941. On July 3, 1948, she was united in marriage with John S. Csik, who preceded her in death on July 25, 1977. Margaret devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising her two adored children. Following the death of her husband, Midge enjoyed working for Racine Unified School District until she retired. Catholic by faith, Margaret was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she was active with church card and Domino clubs. She was also involved with the Racine Interfaith Singles. A dedicated volunteer, Midge served our community as an election poll specialist at McKinley School and Ala-tot counsellor at the Grove Club. Among her interests, she enjoyed dancing, sewing, stained glass, tending to the birds in her yard and was a fantastic cook. Above all, her top priority in life was her children and grandchildren – she treasured every moment being in their surroundings. Surviving are her son, Tom (Wendy) Csik; son-in-law, Dwight Haven; grandchildren, Tom Haven and Colleen (Rick) Andrews; great-grandson, Cristiano Andrews; brother, Paul Yankech; brother-in-law, Fred Draves; very special sister-in-law, Dorie Yankech; longtime friends, June and John Feigel, Breezy Corona and Seb Corona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Frances Haven; sisters, Mary (Joseph) Kairis, Anna Draves, Pauline (Bill) Van Bogart and Julie Yankech; brothers, Joseph (Frances), Steve and Anton Yankech; sister-in-law, Leone Yankech; brother-in-law, Frank Csik; and dear friends, Joseph and Helen Kopecky. In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service celebrating Midge’s life will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 4:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm with Rev. Allen Bratkowski. In memory of Margaret, memorials to the Special Olympics has been suggested. A special note of thanks to the entire staffs of Lincoln Village and Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center for all the compassionate care; to Julie and Beth at Ultimate Looks Hair Salon – Mom looked forward to seeing you every week; and to Kelly Benish – for helping Mom keep her independence at home. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

May 22, 2019

We recently used Draeger-Langendorf’s services for my grandmothers funeral and we are so thankful for Mike and the rest of the staffs help. They made the whole process easy and never urged us to make a certain choice. They were very informative of how the service was going to go and always made sure we knew what was going on. To our surprise Mike Langendorf was there singing in the choir during the funeral and it really made us feel like he truly cared about us. Such a fantastic singing voice! Amazing people to have helping plan during a hard time, would highly recommend.
