Gertrude "Trudy" Maluchnick

Jan 30, 1913 – Jan 2, 2014

Kenosha – Gertrude Loretta (nee: Schoepke) Maluchnik, age 100, passed away peacefully at Manor Care Center in Kenosha on Thursday, January 2, 2014.

Gertrude was born in Illinois on January 30, 1913 to the late Charles and Clara (nee: Cox) Schoepke. During World War II, Trudy worked for the J.I. Case Company in Racine and Vincent McCall in Kenosha, where she was a line leader before retiring in the late 1950s.  Later in her retirement, she and her husband retired to Crivitz, WI to enjoy the north woods in which they loved, returning to Kenosha in 1999.

With a tremendous appreciation for wildlife, Trudy enjoyed caring for her pets and her backyard friends – especially the pheasants and turkeys. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, a good game of Yahtzee and watching old classic movies. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her son, Ralph (Shirley) Mandernack; daughter-in-law, Ethel Mandernack, all of Kenosha; grandchildren, Brett (Carole), Scott (Marilyn), Kevin (Kumi) and Lance Mandernack; Shelley (Ed) Meyer, Gary (Angela) Mandernack and JoAnn (Mark) LaMothe; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, John Maluchnick; former husband, Arthur Mandernack; son, Gordon Mandernack; brothers, Ray (Marge) and Charles (Leona) Schoepke; and sister, Irma (Cleo) Varvil.

Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Kathy Gloff officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Somers. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. In memory of Trudy, memorials to Safe Harbor Humane Society in Kenosha have been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful staff at Manor Care  for the compassionate care and support extended to our Mother in her time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
