Nov 21, 1934 – Mar 30, 2014

Racine – Elaine Rae (nee: Soens) Lenz, age 79, passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Care Center on Sunday morning, March 30, 2014.

Elaine was born in Racine on November 21, 1934 to the late Michael and Myrtle (nee: Jorgensen) Soens. On October 25, 1952 in Immanuel Episcopal Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Eugene Lenz, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1993.

A graduate of Washington Park High School, Elaine served as a waitress at Corner House restaurant for over 28 years. As an excellent seamstress, she worked part-time at JoAnn Fabrics for several years during retirement.

Formerly of Immanuel Episcopal Church, Elaine was an active and dedicated member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church where she enjoyed volunteering. She was also a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Elaine always looked forward to being surrounded with the love of her entire family.

Surviving are her daughter, Debbi (Michael) Prudhom; son-in-law, Joseph (Bonita) Knoch; grandchildren, Leslie Wallace, Brianne (Michael) Tesch, Brandon Prudhom, Katie (Nick) Poblocki and Krista Knoch; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Madison Wallace; Zoey and Parker Tesch; Chase Poblocki; and Piper Tesch (of whom is due to be born in May); brother, Larry (Marge) Pedersen; sisters, Cheri (Dave) Trussel and Judi Adrian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, DeAnna Knoch; and brother-in-law, George Adrian.

Funeral services will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Church, 4701 Erie Street, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 5:00 pm with Fr. Dustin Fecht officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 3-5 pm. Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. In memory of Elaine, memorials to St. Michael’s Church have been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Ridgewood Care Center and Allay Hospice for the compassionate care and support extended in Elaine’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

Thank you so very much for the exemplary care that you provided for both our mom and dad. Your family is extremely kind and exudes much empathy towards others. You and your staff display much professionalism with great talent and attention to detail. Mom and dad were always very particular in their appearance. Mom would say, You are leaving a lasting impression of yourself with someone to remember you by. Your parents taught you boys well; be very proud of that! Love on them, as death is so very permanent.

Holly and I are officially orphans now. It is people like your family and David Huck being there for us, that bring comfort when you are going through one of the most difficult challenges life throws at you.

I thank God every day for our Ostergaard family and will always cherish the memories.

Love you,

Jody Burlingame Wagner
