
Racine – Richard Robert Jones, age 60; affectionately known to many in our community as "Moses Smith", passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
Richard was born in Burlington, WI on December 18, 1953 to the late William and Evelyn (nee: Karpen) Jones. Growing up in Union Grove, he was a 1972 graduate of Union Grove High School. Years later, he went on to earn a computer science degree from University of Wisconsin – Parkside. During his working career, he was employed as a computer systems analyst by Jacobsen Mfg. and Bank One. In recent years, Moses proudly lived a simple life and devoted all of his time to looking out for others – especially the most vulnerable.
Surviving are his brother, John (Eleanore) Jones; sister, Jane (Dave) Huber; niece, Jessica Jones; nephews, Mike and Gary Jones; Matt and Jake (Angela) Huber; other relatives and friends – especially his extended family at the Hospitality Center and many others in Downtown Racine.
A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 614 Main Street, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Bob Lambert officiating. In memory of Moses, memorials to the Hospitality Center (located in St. Luke’s Church) have been suggested.
