Antoinette Stevens

Aug 13, 1938 – Sep 4, 2014

~~
Antoinette “Toni” Healy – Stevens, 76, passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center on Friday, September 5, 2014, from complications of a stroke she endured weeks earlier. She was born in Burlington, WI on August 13, 1938 the daughter of the late Merritt and Evelyn (nee: Beix) Parker.  She graduated from Saint Mary’s Catholic High School and then pursued her dream of earning her cosmetology license.
On September 11, 1982, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Douglas Stevens. Together they owned and operated Papa and Ama’s House Day Care for over 24 years. In earlier years, Toni worked at and managed several different hair salons, managed a facial salon, was proud to be the first “Estee Lauder Lady” at Boston Store – Regency Mall, and worked at various high-end clothing boutiques.  Toni had an eye for fashion and even modeled as a full-figured model after being asked by several retailers.  In addition, Toni had a knack for decorating and was an amazing cook, feeding many mouths throughout the years, and helping decorate many of her friends’ homes.  She belonged to her Homemakers’ Club for many years, where she established her dearest friendships. Toni’s whole life revolved around children; hers, her grandchildren, and all the children who went through the day care that her and Douglas operated in their home.
Toni was known to light up any room she entered with her bright smile, flawless skin, and vibrant personality.  She was extremely caring and loving, and many refer to her as their “2nd mom”.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Douglas; their daughters whom she was incredibly proud of, Wendy Healy, of Racine, and Angel (Bob) Markiewicz, of Union Grove; grandchildren, Lexi, Brianna, and Roman; sisters, Sally (Mel) Moat, of Burlington, and Patti Aschauer, of Union Grove. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and the many children she so lovingly cared for throughout the years also survive her. In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by her grandson; Merritt Healy; her mother and father-in-law, Marlyn and William Stevens; brother-in-law, Mike Aschauer; nephews, Andy Aschauer and Guy Moat; and cousins, Barb and Fred Williams.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 11th, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Manda Stack officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family who will establish a living memorial at a later date.
The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to Toni’s sister, Patti, for her help with getting her to and from numerous appointments, the staff at Community Care-Partnership who kept a close eye on her health for the last several years, the staff at All Saints – CHF Clinic and CV5 inpatient unit, and the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center for the loving care they provided to her in the last weeks of her life.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Bill’s service was beautiful, beyond belief. Leslie was priceless in all she did. Gary, knowing Bill for many years, said a few words at the service. The special touched I didn’t expect warmed my heart. Two very, very special people helped make a sad day into something very special.

Thank you to all those that helped behind the scene, setting up, opening doors. My heart is full.

Bless you.

Helene Hellesen
